 Philippines Flood Relief Update The small OM team in the Philippines delivered food to stranded families this week with the help of one Chinese church. Many people had not been able to get to other relief stations, or found them empty upon arrival. So the home deliveries were a great blessing. Pray as the team goes out again this weekend, under threat of more bad weather. They will be working with three local churches to get aid packages to 300 families. Urgent Need in the Philippines The recent typhoon in the Philippines affected millions of people, particularly those residing in and around Manila. In just 12 hours, Manila received one month’s amount of rainfall and experienced the worst flooding in four decades. Over 3 million people were made homeless, and 293 lives were lost. OM’s base in the Philippines is located in one of the badly affected areas. Our team there is purchasing relief goods and building materials. Aid will be given to families in the affected areas and distributed in partnership with national churches and the Philippine Relief and Development Services. This is being done in partnership with churches in the affected area. Distribution has already begun. We are working with Philippine Relief and Development Services of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches and are providing 200 families with needed building materials to rebuild homes.
